If you love dogs then you’ve come to the right place. We love dogs. All kinds of dogs. And we care about their health and wellness. My dogs compete in agility and conformation, so I understand the importance of keeping dogs fit, healthy and performing at their peak.

Hi, I’m Val Wilson. I’ve been passionate about dogs all my life. Dogs are more than four legged companions, they are family. Welcome to our Wilson family, which includes three bearded collies – Angie, Bobbi-Rae, Kramer, my husband Wes and me. After a career in the corporate retail world, I decided to follow my passion. I have, and my company name says it all MustLuvDogs.ca.

About Us Valerieher husband Wes and their three dogs About Us cool coats for dogs

Valerie, her husband Wes and their three dogs

Living in Markham, Ontario, Canada, I’m used to four seasons. But my dogs struggled in the summer heat. Bobbi-Rae and Kramer, my senior dogs, were preferring to stay inside. And I saw Angie struggling to cool down after agility trials and conformation shows, so I decided to do something about it. I searched everywhere for cool coats that were functional, stylish and durable. I bought many different styles of cooling coats and vests on the market and tested them all on my dogs and one by one, I ruled them out.

When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I combined my years of product development experience with extensive research to source leading edge materials and created cool coats for the comfort of my own dogs. This was the only way to get exactly what I wanted. In 2007, Cool Coats® was born. I sourced a unique cooling material that was lightweight and would keep my dogs cool and dry. I worked on a pattern design, researched and found a top notch production facility who manufactures to high quality standards and got to work. I created Cool Coats® for my own trio of bearded collies. My dogs were the first to experience Cool Coats®. Initially, I started making cool coats for friends and family. Everyone loved the coats, and everyone wanted one. I started designing coats that would fit a variety of dogs from Papillions to Great Danes, and then it was on to conformation shows, agility trials, and flyball tournaments with my coats. I’m pleased to say I now have a loyal following of “Cool Coat® customers” including owners and handlers of agility dogs, flyball dogs, conformation show dogs, breeders, groomers and companion family pets all over the world.

I’m passionate about my dogs, my business and my products. I would love your best friend to be a Cool Coat® customer too. Well of course I’m speaking to the owner, but you know what I mean…

So welcome to our site. It’s easy to place an order. We offer eleven sizes in three stunning colours. I love feedback. Send me a photo of your dog wearing a Cool Coat® and you’ll see them in my Photo Gallery on the website. I’ve fine-tuned the pattern over the years thanks to feedback from Cool Coats® customers.

We welcome your questions, comments and suggestions. We care about you and what you think, and as a dog owner, you know best!

Keep cool…Val

Kramer

Gone, but never forgotten.

kramer2 About Us cool coats for dogsKramer trotted off to a place just this side of heaven called Rainbow Bridge, only three weeks after our family photo was taken.

This website is affectionately dedicated to Kramer, as it was our boy who inspired me to start this business.

Kramer was truly one in a million just like his namesake from Seinfield. He had a sparkling and engaging personality. When you saw his happy go lucky face and his “joie de vivre” you couldn’t help but break out into a smile…Everyone who met Kramer loved him!

I really don’t know how my husband Wes and I were so blessed to have him in our lives. We knew right from the start Kramer was special. He was even born with a distinctive Mohawk hairdo. He was a clown and a real character and the name Kramer couldn’t have suited him more.

Kramer was happiest when he was doing his “Bird Patrol” job, chasing and clearing the golf course of Canada Geese and Crows. You know those pesky, noisy squawking birds that disturb the golfers? Kramer was a herding dog who was supposed to herd sheep, but he didn’t care. Instead he loved to run with his head facing upwards towards the sky, barking and chasing birds with a big silly grin on his face. He was so proud of himself!!

Kramer did everything his way. Even on his final day, he got up from his favorite spot on the front step and without being asked he walked over to the car and waited to be lifted in. It was as if he was saying I’ve done my best but I’m tired and I can no longer fight the fight. Although Kramer’s hind legs were failing him, he was a proud dog and walked into the vet’s on his own accord. While the vet was making preparations, Kramer made light of it by munching away on his favorite treats, as if to say, don’t be sad Mom and Dad, it’s time for me to go. And then ever so silently he closed his eyes and went to sleep. What a prince our boy was. He was in a class all of his own and has left a big void in our lives.

Goodbye Buddy…We love you and you will remain in our hearts forever. Until we meet again and cross over Rainbow Bridge together….

What are Cool Coats?

Cool Coats® are lightweight cooling coats designed to help reduce your dog’s core body temperature to prevent them from overheating.  Many dog owners do not realize when the temperature becomes very hot, this is a dangerous condition which can lead to heatstroke or dog heat stress.

Why Cool Coats?

Simply put, heatstroke occurs when a dog loses its natural ability to regulate its body temperature. Read More
